Send a dimension, get a size code
Give the exposure band first — in air, splash zone, buried or submerged — then the measured diameter, and the reply can name a size instead of asking a question.
Depth before part number
Place the end on the scale before you name what it is. That word moves the answer further than the diameter does: a push-on cap and an adhesive-lined heat-shrink cap can both fit the same measured end, and only one is still closed after the duct floods.
Nothing here carries a price, a lead time, a minimum order, a stock figure or a tariff code. None of those exist in the manufacturer's datasheets, and the datasheets are the only documents these pages are built from.

What to put in the message
- Exposure band
- In air, splash zone, buried or submerged, in the first line. A crimped terminal in a dry panel and an anode lead wire in wet soil are the same open end at two different depths.
- Measured outside diameter
- Over the jacket, with a tape or a pi gauge — not the conductor size stencilled on the drum. A cap is picked on a supplied internal diameter that must clear the end and a recovered one that must sit under it.
- A code you already hold
- Cable end caps span GEC 001S to GEC 1101, covering cable from 2–4 mm up to 230–460 mm; anode caps run GAC 0420 to GAC 0550. If a code worked last time, quoting it beats measuring again.
- Substrate
- XLPE, PVC, PILC or rubber-sheathed jacket on a cable; timber, concrete, steel or composite on a pole or pile. The hot-melt adhesive has to bond to whatever you name.
- Voltage class, where the end is electrical
- System voltage, and whether the end stays energised. A sealed high-voltage end in a hot yard is the case the relief-valve variant exists for.
- Anode geometry, in two diameters
- The anode end and the lead-wire end, measured separately. The GAC chart is dimensioned on that pair, so one figure cannot place your part in it.
- Pole or pile diameter across the cut face
- The flat sawn top, not the butt. The published range is five sizes spanning 140 to 460 mm (roughly 5.5 to 18 in), and nothing finer exists.
- Torch permitted, or not
- A refused hot-work permit is a specification, not a scheduling detail. Say so at the start and the answer moves to what can be pushed on rather than shrunk down.
- Quantity per size, and the destination
- Counts against each code, plus country and port. Add the service temperature if the end will sit outside −40 °C to +110 °C, the continuous limit published for the crosslinked polyolefin caps.
